The backdrop of the game is one of multiple time dimensions and of course Parallel Worlds. As a player(s), or Temporal Adjusters, it is your responsibility to guard against the mis-use of dimensional time travel. Unlike many other collectable card games available, Parallel Worlds has a trump based strategy with a very rapid and addictive format. The game can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players, 4 players playing in teams of 2. The strategic element of the game emerges best when Parallel Worlds is played with 4 people playing in teams of 2. The combination of 2 player teams offers a wider choice of tactics, opening up the full range of power plays available to a team.

Parallel Worlds has a unique playing deck consisting of 25 cards, made up of four 6 card suits belonging to the elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water, plus a Wild card. Each of the suits is also represented by a "House" name that originates from the 1,000's of planets spread throughout space and time. New Houses will be made available for collection and integration into any starter deck, enabling every player to customize their own deck to their personal taste. Before play commences each player can then select a complete 6 card suit from their own customized deck to represent them as "Temporal Adjuster" within the game.

Another huge element of the game is the extremely unusual artwork that has been chosen for the designs on the cards. Incredibly detailed and unique, the art has been sourced from a wide variety of artists from countries across the world including Poland, Turkey, USA and United Kingdom. The immensely attractive artwork on the cards quite simply places the game in a league of its own for quality and collectability.
